Grade 6

Dear Parents,

The Christmas break is finally here and what a year it has been thus far. It has been extremely busy, and I can’t put into words how proud I am of the Grade 6 class. They certainly deserve this break! We had our Christmas Party today which was enjoyed by watching a movie and playing board games or cards while drinking hot chocolate.

The Christmas show was an absolute hit. The students knew exactly when they had to be on stage, conducted themselves in a mature manner, and it seems as though they really enjoyed their role as MCs. Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it and enjoy the evening with us.

When we return on Monday, January 5th, we will begin with the story, Dinosaur Ghosts,  looking at a strange collection of fossils found with interesting theories of how this came to be In Math we start with Topic 10, Integers, as we have just completed topic 9 with a test. We will begin with lesson 1, The Nile Valley, in Social Studies and in Science we will also begin on to lesson 1, Earth’s Support of Life.

I have shared a document with the class regarding the Science Fair and discussed what is expected of them at this stage. The assignment is given to them at this time to encourage the students to think about possible ideas for their assignments over the break. Deadlines assisting the students with following the scientific procedure and for staying on track will be given when we return.

Have a great break and take care!

Mr. Ferreira
